 Great News!

It is with great pleasure that, after a submission by the ASSA, we can announce the re-introduction of an ACTA Australian Skeet Team ( 5 person ) to the World Skeet Championships in San Antonio, Texas, U.S.A. for the 2012 year and each even year after that being 2014, 2016, 2018, etc.

In all odd years 2013, 2015, 2017, etc. we will still be having our Glenn Trophy Team going to New Zealand. Which means that there will be a team/trip away every year.

The criteria for this years team ( 2012 ) to the U.S.A. World Shoot in Sept/Oct 2012 will be the top five scores from the 450 standard targets shot at this years Skeet Nationals consisting of the National Skeet Champion of Champions 100 tgts, National 20g Skeet Championship 100 tgts, National Skeet Handicap 50 tgts, Commonwealth Skeet Championship 100 tgts and the National 12g Skeet Championship 100 tgts = 450 tgts total.

The criteria for subsequent teams to the World Skeet Championships will consist of the following:

The selection year shall run from June 1 to the completion of the Nationals the following year i.e 2013/2014. It shall consist of ANY two 100 tgt State 12g Title scores you wish to submit i.e. shoot four and submit your best two.

Currently the States that run 100tgt State 12g Titles are NSW, QLD, WA, TAS, VIC, SA. Added to this will be the 450 standard targets from the National Skeet Championships of that selection year = 650 tgts in total - top five scores.

Registering of your State scores during the skeet season will be done the same way as long breaks are currently being registered namely through the ASSA and the protocol spelt out below on this page.

These State scores shall be on the ASSA website for public viewing throughout the course of the season and submitted to the ACTA prior to the start of the Skeet Nationals.

This is a great initiative by the ACTA to promote the discipline not only Nationally but through the States as well and they are to be applauded for it.

Australian Skeet Shooters Association accepted as a "Supporting Association"

On Page 1 of the August 2011 issue of Clay Target Shooting News, Robert Nugent, the National President of the ACTA, included the following welcome news in his report to Members:

"The Executive have created a new class of membership with non-voting rights for 'Supporting Associations'. The ASSA (Australian Skeet Shooters Association) is the first organisation to be accepted as a "Supporting Association". The ASSA is an incorporated body with elected officials, and membership of it is dependent on being a member of the ACTA. Their aim is to promote skeet shooting in Australia. The ASSA has offered to help the ACTA with such things as recording Annual Long Breaks, Grand Slams, and other Hall of Fame award scores. They have an excellent website dedicated to the discipline and this will be linked to the Association's. The ACTA see this as a positive move and look forward to future involvement of the ASSA within our sport."

Winners in 2011

TAS State Titles
Congratulations to ASSA Member Glen Clarke on picking up the AA grade High Gun and the $100 cash prize at the Tassy State Titles. Once again the A, B, & C  H/G winners were not members and hence missed out on the cash award.

This brings to a close the $100 cash prize awards for 2011, but the good news is that we will be running the same programme again in 2012 for all stand alone State Skeet Carnivals, so have a look who was on the money winners list this year and be in it to win it in 2012.

WA State Titles

Congratulations to the ASSA member Craig O'Neill for picking up the $100 cash prize for the AA grade high gun at the WA State skeet carnival. The A, B & C grade H/G winners were not members and missed out on the $100 bonuses.

NSW State Titles

Congratulations to Harry Bader who picked up the $100 cash prize for the AA grade high gun at the NSW State skeet carnival. The A, B & C grade H/G winners were not members and went home without the $100 bonus.

SA State Titles

Congratulations to Craig O'Neill for picking up the $100 cash prize for the AA grade high gun at the S.A. State skeet carnival. Unfortunately the A, B & C grade H/G winners were not members and went home without the $100 each.

VIC State Titles
Congratulations to the following members for picking up the $100 cash prize at the Victorian State Skeet Titles: Blake Slater A Grade high gun; Barry Moss B Grade high gun and Paul Slater C Grade high Gun. The winner of the AA High Gun, Leigh Roberts unfortunately didn't get his membership in on time - so next time Leigh??
